Operations Specialist

Operations Specialist

32–40 hours per week | Maastricht | Nieuw-Vennep | Venlo

Do you maintain a clear overview of air freight, ocean freight, and road transport, even when quick action is required? If so, we would love to meet you!

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Operations Specialist to join our Operations team. Depending on where you live, you will work from our location in Nieuw-Vennep, Maastricht, or Venlo.

What will you be doing?

As an Operations Specialist, you will ensure that international shipments are thoroughly prepared, organized, and administratively processed. Working across air freight, ocean freight, and road transport, you will ensure all agreements with customers, suppliers, and partners are met.

You understand the importance of accurate documentation, clear communication, and reliable follow-up. That’s why at Walker, you will be given significant responsibility over your own files—monitoring progress, coordinating with key parties, and stepping in whenever a shipment requires extra attention.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and arranging air freight, ocean freight, and road transport shipments.
  • Checking and processing shipments in CargoWise.
  • Maintaining regular contact with customers, suppliers, carriers, and colleagues.
  • Checking and managing customs declarations for import, export, and NCTS.
  • Preparing daily operational reports.
  • Monitoring quality in accordance with internal guidelines.
  • Identifying bottlenecks and contributing to practical solutions.

You will work closely with your colleagues in Operations. Lines of communication are short, and the environment is fast-paced, yet you will have the autonomy to make independent decisions regarding your files.

What do you bring?

You are detail-oriented, customer-focused, and accustomed to taking ownership. You keep a clear overview, communicate effectively, and think ahead. Even when schedules change or a customer request demands extra attention, you remain calm and solution-oriented.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Vocational/Applied educational level (MBO work and thinking level, preferably level 4).
  • Experience in freight forwarding, transport, or logistics services.
  • Experience with air freight, ocean freight, and/or road transport.
  • Knowledge of customs matters and related documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Experience with CargoWise is a plus.
  • An independent, accurate, and solution-driven mindset.
  • Flexibility, especially when plans change or a shipment requires extra focus.
  • Don't meet every single requirement yet? No problem—we are happy to teach you the trade.

What do we offer?

At Walker, you will step into a role with high responsibility within an international logistics organization. You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues who support each other, act quickly, and value high quality.

We offer:

  • A position for 32 to 40 hours per week (a 32-hour workweek is distributed over 5 days).
  • A salary tailored to your experience, knowledge, and responsibilities.
  • A pension scheme.
  • Travel allowance.
  • Profit-sharing scheme.
  • 8% holiday allowance.
  • 25 holiday days per year (based on full-time employment).
  • Room for professional growth within transport and logistics.
  • Short communication channels, personal focus, and a pleasant working atmosphere.
